KNOW YOUR TOTAL

Before I enter any store, I know an approximate total out of pocket cost for each shopping trip. This helps me to know that I have bought the right items and that I have been charged correctly for my items.
THE RIGHT ITEM
Many times the coupon will be ounce specific or product specific. I am guilty many times of picking the wrong item from the shelf and thus not getting the proper savings. Purchasing a wrong item will lead to an increase of your total out of pocket cost.

BEING CHARGED CORRECTLY
An over charge will also increase your total out of pocket cost. Just today at Walgreen's, I was over charged by $5.00. Their Walgreen's in-ad coupons did not ring up correctly. When my total out of pocket was off from my projected total, I looked over my receipt before leaving the store and found the error. I went in and had them fix the receipt and was refunded for the overage. Not only did I save myself $5.00, I also saved myself a trip back to Walgreen's to get a refund.
Remember that figuring out your total out of pocket is easy with Grocery Smarts shopping lists. Multiple the quantity you are purchasing by the bottom line, and then simply add all the subtotals together to get your approximate total.
Happy Shopping!
