Before I enter any store, I know an approximate total. This helps me to know that I have bought the right items and that I have been charged correctly for my items.
THE RIGHT ITEM
Many times the coupon will be ounce specific or product specific. I am guilty many times of picking the wrong item from the shelf and thus not getting the proper savings. Purchasing a wrong item will lead to an increase of your total OOP (out of pocket).
BEING CHARGED CORRECTLY
An over charge will also increase your total OOP. Just today at Walgreen's, I was over charged by $5.00. Their Walgreen's in-ad coupons did not ring up correctly. When my total OOP was off from my projected total OOP, I looked over my receipt before leaving the store and found the error. I went in and had them fix the receipt and was refunded for the overage. Not only did I save myself $5.00, I also saved myself a trip back to Walgreen's to get a refund. Being aware of what your approximate total OOP should be before you enter any store will help you SHOP SMART & SAVE.
